Dr. Keisha Edwards

Dr. Keisha Edwards is a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) certified through the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). She is licensed in the state of New Jersey and certified by the New Jersey Department of Education as a Speech-Language Specialist. Dr. Edwards received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Disorders from Temple University, her Master of Arts Degree and Clinical Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology from Kean University. She has extensive training and experience in autism, motor speech disorders, bilingualism and augmentative and alternative communication. She is PROMPT* and PECS*  trained as well as Hanen certified with training in More than Words. Dr. Edwards is also an adjunct professor and the creator of the My Language Board-AAC talker app designed to help speech language pathologists incorporate their client’s native language in therapy and evaluations.

Dr. Edwards has over 20 years experience working in both public and specialized schools, early intervention and in a pediatric outpatient clinic in a children's hospital. She has extensive experience evaluating and treating children with a variety of medical diagnoses and speech/language disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, childhood apraxia of speech, fluency disorders, language-based disorders, articulation/phonological disorders, and feeding disorders. She provides therapy in both English and Spanish. For over four years, Dr. Edwards was a member of the only bilingual autism diagnostic team in New Jersey. She has presented various parent workshops and mentored both graduate students and new therapists in their clinical fellowship year.  In 2017, she was awarded TOP DOC for her work with bilingual and autistic children.

Dr. Edwards’ professional and personal philosophy on enhancing children’s communication skills is reflected in her company’s name and evident in her interactions with children and families. So what’s the kei?  The “kei” (pronounced key) to enhancing a child's communication is making sure to have fun, creating functional goals, meeting children where they are and working collaboratively with parents, caregivers, teachers and other professionals. Dr. Edwards brings a genuine love for children and how they learn and problem solve. By meeting children where they are, she is able to focus on and build upon a child’s strengths. Children learn best when they are actively engaged, interested in an activity and feel valued by their speech language pathologist.
